Fox Whitfield, a specialist legal firm offering bespoke employment law services for employers and employees is launching the opening of its new Bristol office by hosting a training seminar on 12 October 2015 at its office in Aztec West (just off junction 16 of the M5).

Speaking at the event will be Dionne Dury, who heads up the new Bristol office. Dionne has over 10 years’ experience advising employers and employees on all aspects of employment law. She also lectures part-time at BPP University on their undergraduate and postgraduate courses and sits on a panel for ACAS reviewing their written guidance.

Dionne will be talking about the new shared parental leave provisions that came in at the end of last year and are now available to all employees (subject to meeting certain eligibility requirements) of newborn babies and children placed for adoption in the UK.

If you are an HR professional or small business owner you may have already started receiving queries about the new provisions. This talk will look at some of the key features of the provisions including:

·         How they work in practice;

·         Eligibility and notification requirements;

·         How much shared parental leave employees can take and when;

·         Managing leave taken in blocks / intermittently;

·         Rights of employees upon their return to work;

·         Redundancy during the leave period; and

·         Enhanced maternity arrangements / benefits.

Alison Frazer is an employment law barrister with over 15 years’ experience as a specialist advocate. She also sits as a fee paid Employment Judge in the Wales region, is a Judge of the First Tier Tribunal and a freelance writer for XpertHR.

Alison Frazer will provide a general update on some of the recent developments in maternity and discrimination law.

Alison Love is an experienced workplace mediator with a background in HR and employment law.

Alison Love will facilitate a thought provoking session on the options to consider when dealing with workplace conflict. She will talk about ways of resolving workplace disputes, considering whether formal procedures are fit for purpose, when to intervene and an explanation of mediation and other options available including a look at an innovative   new approach to disputes; neutral assessments.
