The Cumbria office is based in Sedbergh and has clients throughout the Lakes and Dales.

The Cumbria Office undertakes a full range of employment law work for all sizes of employers including hotels and schools. We also act for employees with issues and disputes with their employers.

Employers in this region often have limited budgets for legal costs and we offer fixed fees agreed in advance wherever possible. We aim to take the uncertainly out of legal costs for our clients and provide a high quality of affordable professional service. We have fixed fee meetings:-

  • Up to 2 hours for employers or employees – £200 + VAT
  • Half a day for employers including review of existing contracts and policies – £350+VAT

The office is also very experienced in dealing with settlement agreements (previously called compromise agreements) for both employers and employees. For employers we can draft agreements and negotiate the terms. For employees offered  compromise agreements we will give honest advice about the terms offered and work with you to achieve the best settlement. All employees offered compromise agreements must take independent legal advice from a lawyer for it be valid and the employer will normally pay towards the cost of this advice. Wherever possible we try to work within the fees payable by the employer.

  • We offer unlimited access to our team of solicitors at a monthly fixed cost.
  • We will provide employment contracts, handbooks and policies which we will keep up to date. You will have telephone support and our expertise in developing a successful approach to HR and employment law. If the worst should happen you will also have expert representation in Employment Tribunal hearings.
  • There is also optional Tribunal costs and awards insurance available at an extra cost.
